In Talisay City Bucao, et al bid farewell

CEBU, Philippines - In his almost 30-minute long farewell speech delivered at the city council yesterday, Talisay City Vice Mayor Alan Bucao lashed at his critics for maligning his reputation during the campaign period leading to the May 13 elections.

“To my detractors, congratulations. You have successfully ruined my name,” Bucao said in his opening message.

Bucao also refuted allegations he earned millions from his family-run janitorial and general services company.

The Perfect Clean General Services (PCGS) has been serving the Talisay City government for almost seven years.

Former Vice Mayor Aberdovey Belleza and Opposition city Councilor and Vice Mayor-elect Romeo Villarante questioned the presence of PCGS at the Talisay City hall.

Belleza and Villarante were Bucao’s opponents in the vice mayoral race.

“I deny earning millions from my company,” Bucao said.

Villarante, however, did not comment on Bucao’s statement saying that it be better to leave behind what had happened in the past election and move forward.

In yesterday’s 4th Sangguniang Panlungsod of Talisay City, at least three members of the city councilors also bade farewell as it held its last session.

They are third and last term councilors Rodi Cabigas and Bernard Odilao while Celiapo Cabuenas lost in the last election.

Missing at the session hall were re-elected Councilor Eduardo “Digul” Gullas III and SK president Carmel John Burlas.

Gullas and Burlas have filed a special leave.

Plaques of appreciation and recognition were given to outgoing members.

In their farewell speech, Bucao, Cabigas, Odilao, and Cabuenas said that although they are no longer in the city, they will always be around whenever there is the call for service. (FREEMAN)
