CEBU, Philippines - Eldest son Frederick Suliano refuses to file charges against his mother Editha who, in a fit of jealousy, shot and killed her husband Samuel last Sunday evening in barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City.
His eight younger brothers and a sister, on the other hand, think differently.
The eldest son said he understands what happened to her parents and worries about their one-year-old brother who still depends on their mother for milk.
“If my mother is jailed, it would be like losing both parents. I wouldn’t want to see my siblings living with different relatives,†he said.
Brothers of the dead man, namely, Ricardo, Epefanio, and Rogelio are determined to file a case against their sister-in-law.
They have promised to adopt the children if and when she stays in prison for good.
But Samuel’s three sisters, namely, Maria, Mising, and Beth have no desire to file a case.
Homicide chief P/Insp. Zenaido Pastorfide said the police are waiting for the family to make a decision before the reglamentary period expires. The family has 36 hours to decide.
In jail, Editha misses her children and wants to go home.
“I regret what I did to my husband and it’s up to my in-laws to file a case or not. I have already asked for forgiveness from them,†Editha said. (FREEMAN)
