Samar native, 45, stabbed to death

CEBU, Philippines - Two men stabbed to death a 45-year-old man during a drinking binge Friday afternoon in sitio Matimco in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Nilo Nersa, a native of Samar province and was residing in Subangdaku for the past two months.

His assailants Angelo Empleo, 37, and Eden Contapay, 33, were arrested by the police after a chase.

Investigation and Detective Management Branch investigator SPO2 Marcos Noval Jr., said Nersa and one Jeffry Umpad were having a drink when joined by brothers-in-law Empleo and Contapay.

Noval said Empleo appeared to be looking for trouble as he would constantly provoke Nersa.

“Naila man gud ning siga anang lugara kana si Empleo ug samtang nag-inom ni sila mokalit lang ug ingon, “unya”,”unya” matag storya sa biktima,” Noval said.

It wasn’t long when the two started quarrelling, Noval said.

Empleo, who was armed with an ice pick, stabbed Nersa on the chest.

Contapay later stabbed Nersa with a kitchen knife.

“Mao say nadunggan sa witness paghuman ug dunggab nga kini si Empleo mi-ingon pa ug “Buhi pa ka? Way palag.” Unya kini sad si Contapay misulti pod nga “wala baya ka kahibalo sa abilidad namo sa amoa,” Noval said.

Empleo and Contapay are now detained at the Subangdaku police station.

Nersa’s body was taken to the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes for autopsy. (FREEMAN)
