Paz to check city college collection of school fees
CEBU, Philippines - Lapulapu City Mayor Paz Radaza will take a look at the operational expenses and payments collected by the Lapu-Lapu City College in an attempt to prevent controversies.
Radaza, chairman of the board of trustees of the Lapu-Lapu City College, said she still has trust and confidence in college president Tomas Ramos.
Ramos also serves as the Talisay City College president but a COA report states that it has discovered P10 million in fees collected in 2008, 2009, and 2012 missing, and were never remitted to the Talisay City Treasure’s Office.
Mayor Socrates Fernandez suspended Ramos for 30 days to give way to an investigation.
Ramos’s suspension took effect last May 27.
He may be running two colleges all at once but Radaza sees no conflict of interest.
The Lapu-Lapu college is open to poor but deserving students. (FREEMAN)
