CEBU, Philippines - The City Traffic Management System of Lapu-Lapu City is asking the public to bear with the traffic in the city in view of several ongoing road projects.
CTMS chief Frank Brazil said there will be no rerouting schemes but flagmen will be deployed on roads undergoing repair.
He said road projects may create bottlenecks when classes open but additional traffic personnel will be deployed.
Among the city’s on-going projects include the widening of the Mactan Island Circumferential Road.
The DPWH 7 is repairing the road from Gate 3 of the Mactan Processing Zone to Suba Panas.
One side of the Maximo Patalinjug Ave., from the intersection near the first Mactan-Mandaue Bridge to the Crown Regency Hotel, has been closed for rehabilitation.
The city is undertaking a concreting project from the public market in barangay Basak to Masulog.
Another concreting project is being implemented from Pajac, Abuno to Pajac, Bangkal.
Agus Road in barangay Agus is also being repaired.
Brazil said the road projects, except the widening of the Circumferential Road, will be completed in just a few months from now if rains do not interrupt the work.
Last month, President Benigno Aquino III led the groundbreaking ceremony for the widening of the circumferential road.
Once operational, the road will cut the travel time from Mactan island to Cebu City and vice versa by 15 minutes. (FREEMAN)
