LP city dads in Talisay welcome Gullas move

CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Liberal Party opposition councilors welcome first district Representative Eduardo Gullas’ plan to return vendors from the Lagtang public market to the Tabunok public market.

City Councilor Valeriano “Val” Ylanan, however, alleged Gullas’ move has something to do with politics.

The closure of the Tabunok Public Market, which displaced hundreds of vendors, and the closure of the terminal for tricycles, received criticisms and many felt bitter about the move.

Nganong karon ra man siya (Gullas) nitingog?

Councilor Romeo Villarante, who is running for vice mayor in Talisay, the opening of the terminal is a “victory” for their group.

He said they have been opposing the closure of the old market since 2011.

The city administration’s decision to accommodate the request of the tricycle drivers was a “political move.”

While he is running to win, Gullas said he is running scared in every election and that he does not underestimate the chances of delos Reyes, in the same way when he ran against Talisay City mayor Socrates Fernandez in 2001.  (FREEMAN)
