Police file charges vs Joavan’s “friends”

CEBU, Philippines - The police filed charges Wednesday against two men, who are alleged friends of Joavan Fernandez, for reported possession of firearms and illegal drugs in the Talisay City Prosecutors Office.

Manolito Jasmen Sencil and Romy Rames alias “Dodong” alleged friends of Joavan Fernandez were arrested by the group of Superintendent Paul Labra and Chief Inspector George Ylanan of Regional Special Operation Group-Regional Intelligence Division (RSOG-RID) and Talisay City police led by Superintendent Elmer Lim last Tuesday afternoon in sitio Hawod, barangay Bulacao, Talisay City.

The police seized guns and illegal drugs from the two men.

Lim yesterday said charges for illegal possession of firearms, violating the Comelec gun ban, and illegal possession of dangerous drugs against Sencil and Rames were filed.

Lim said the police have no doubt the two men are gun runners as well as drug users.  (FREEMAN)
