Kadaugan street party April 26-27

CEBU, Philippines - All is set for the celebration of the 3rd Kadaugan Street Party on April 26 and 27 in Lapu-Lapu City.

The “Kadaugan Street Party” started in 2011 by Councilor Harry Don Radaza during his first term of office.

He was at the time appointed chairman of the tourism committee of the city government.

Radaza said the “Street Party was conceptualized in 2011 after it was found out there was space constraint at the Liberty Shrine where the annual reenactment of the “Kadaugan sa Mactan” is always held.

He then decided to make “Kadaugan” bigger and livelier every year.

This year, organizers promise to take most of the events to a higher level to make sure the entertainment will both appeal to adults and children alike.

One of the highlights of the party will be the “Reyna Bulakna Pageant” and the “Higante” contest.

The crowned “Reyna Bulakna” will go home with P20,000.

She will be chosen from 15 lead dancers of different contingents that will join the “Rampada” or street dancing competition. (FREEMAN)
