CEBU, Philippines - The Korean national who took poison following the death of his female business partner inside a hotel in Lapu-Lapu City died Saturday after two months in hospital.
Lapu-Lapu City Police Office director P/SSupt. Rey Lyndon Lawas said this case involving Hyun Chul Whang, 29, is already closed.
Whang’s body was cremated the other day and his remains flown to South Korea.
Lawas said a murder case was ready to be filed but decided against it until Whang got better and get his side of the killing of business partner Whenvy Jean dela Cruz Noel, 21.
The hospital until now has failed to determine the kind of poison Whang took for lack of a toxicologist, which left the Korean confined to bed for two months.
Last Feb. 9, the hotel management contacted police after finding Whang and Noel naked and motionless inside their room.
Investigators theorized Whang killed Noel at the height of an argument and then swallowed a poisonous chemical in a bid to end his life as well.
Police though failed to establish whether she was raped.
The autopsy only reported contusions on her body and marks on her neck that suggest she was strangled. (FREEMAN)
