CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City Police Office director PSr. Supt Petronelli Baldebrin wants the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) to trace the owner of the grenades that were found by three children last Sunday afternoon.
The Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT) went to barangay Looc Sundy afternoon after receiving reports that three boys aged 12 found two hand grenades and a rifle grenade at a vacant lot while scavenging for scraps.
Baldebrin said the explosives will be submitted to the Firearms Explosives Security Service Agency and Guards Supervisory Section (Fessags) for examination.
He believes the explosives, kept in a plastic container, may have been left in the lot intentionally.
The owner of the grenades may have decided to leave these in the vacant lot for fear of getting apprehended at checkpoints, Baldebrin said.
Police checkpoints are being set up throughout the city in line with the election gun ban. (FREEMAN)
