CEBU, Philippines - To draw more spectators, the Miss Mandaue 2013 beauty pageant will be held in the open air and will be free of charge, the Mandaue City Fiesta Committee said.
Emilio Pascual, the artistic director of the Miss Mandaue 2013 said this year’s beauty pageant will be held at the Heritage Plaza, which is located in front of the city hall.
He said the plaza could accommodate more than 30 thousand people.
In previous years, the Miss Mandaue was either held at the Mandaue City Sports Complex or the Cebu International Convention Center.
Pascual said there were times in the 80’s and 90’s that the Miss Mandaue pageant was also held at the plaza.
And again in 2010.
Other activities such as Miss Gay, Queen, Prince, and Princess Night will be held at the plaza.
Sarah Walker Cortes, wife of Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, assured that this year’s fiesta celebration in the city will not be a political event since politicians will not be accommodated or allow them to distribute campaign materials.
Cortes said the city has already done a great job in sticking to Comelec rules, and 2010 was also an election year but the fiesta was not tainted with politics.
