Mandaue councilor injured in accident

CEBU, Philippines - A Mandaue City councilor was injured in a minor accident yesterday during.

City Councilor Jimmy Lumapas sustained a four-inch cut on the right side of his face after getting hit with a cut telephone wire during the opening salvo of the campaign of Liberal Party candidates for local elections in the city yesterday morning.

Lumapas was injured when the makeshift roof of the Mitsubishi Canter he was riding in caught a telephone wire, which snapped off, hitting his face.

And after being treated at the hospital, the councilor caught up with the caravan in barangay Subangdako, where the candidates ate lunch.

Despite the incident, Lumapas described the caravan as successful.

All incumbent city officials, led by Mayor Jonas Cortes, and Vice Mayor Glen Bercede, joined the motorcade, which started at the Mandaue City Plaza and ended at the San Roque Parish in barangay Subangdako.

About 40 vehicles joined the motorcade which passed through all the barangays in the city. (FREEMAN)
