Boy, 12, dies in road mishap
CEBU, Philippines - A 12-year-old boy died after getting hit by a sports utility vehicle Monday evening at the Cebu South Coastal Road in barangay San Roque, Talisay City.
John Larry Talabo sustained severe injuries and died on the way to the Talisay City District Hospital.
The driver, Philip Joseph Pasaol, 19, resident of Borbon town, allegedly did not stop after hitting the boy, and went straight to his boarding house in barangay Mambaling Cebu City where he telephoned his father to tell him about the accident.
PO1 Daniel Cabatas of Talisay City Traffic Division said Pasaol did not stop for fear of getting bashed by bystanders.
Pasaol surrendered to the Cebu City Mobile Patrol Group and eventually turned over to the Talisay City Traffic Division.
Pasaol was travelling from the south on his way to Cebu City when the boy crossed the street.
At the time, the boy and his younger brother were looking for their mother who was selling fruits in front of a department store, police said.
The younger boy had warned Talabo about crossing the street but he allegedly threw caution to the winds. (FREEMAN)
