CEBU, Philippines - A jeepney driver died while two others including a minor were seriously injured after they were shot in separate incidents in Cebu City last Wednesday.
Jeepney driver Alberto Rosal, 27, was shot in the head by a man in sitio Villa Bulsita, barangay Bulacao-Pardo at past 7 pm.
Rosal, a native of Malaybalay, Bukidnon, was reportedly about to play computer games when a man sneaked behind him and shot him without provocation.
Dindo Bato-bato, who owns the computer, rushed outside and saw a man running and Rosal sprawled on the ground.
The Barangay Pardo Emergency Rescue team responded to the area and declared Rosal dead.
SPO1 Victor Ruel Ayuman, one of the team leaders in the Homicide Section, said they are yet to verify reports that Rosal was a snatcher, which could be the motive behind the attack.
“Di pa hinuon ta ingon convinced ana so ato sang palawman,†said Ayuman, adding they will check whether Rosal was a member of gangs based on the markings “Batman 357 and LVM†tattooed on his body.
A 16-year-old boy is now also fighting for his life after two men shot him on the face at Katipunan Street, barangay Labangon shortly before midnight yesterday.
The out-of-school boy was reportedly sitting on the railings of a bridge with a certain “Onad†when Christian Gica, 22, and a certain “Gamay†passed by them and called the victim’s attention.
And then Gica allegedly shot the juvenile on his face.
The attackers fled while the boy was rushed by his elder brother to the Cebu City Medical Center.
Ayuman said the bullet remained embedded on the left side of the boy’s face.
The Homicide Section investigator said they still have no clue why the boy was attacked.
On the same day, at around 3:30 pm, a man who just got out of jail for alleged involvement of illegal drugs was shot by two men on a motorcycle at Tres De Abril Street, barangay San Nicolas.
Levi Tiongco alias “Tata,†32, was walking with his live-in-partner towards N. Bacalso Avenue to supposedly take a taxi when the assailants arrived.
The passenger shot Tiongco thrice.
Tiongco was hit once on his back and ran towards the nearby Adventist Hospital formerly Miller Hospital while the assailants sped off.
Ayuman said they are primarily eyeing illegal drugs as the motive behind the incident. (FREEMAN)
