LTO eyes raps against former traffic enforcer

CEBU, Philippines - The Land Transportation Office contemplates filing charges against a former traffic enforcer for continuing to represent himself as an agent of the agency.

This traffic enforcer was dismissed from work for extortion and meddling in traffic cases.

Seven other traffic enforcers are being investigated for extortion.

Vice Mayor Alan Bucao, chairman of the City of Talisay-Traffic Operation Development Authority, said LTO plans to file charges against the enforcer because he continues to represent himself as deputized agent even if he is no longer connected with the CCTODA.

While the seven traffic enforcers were warned and told to perform their duties well.

The investigation came after concerned citizens said some enforcers offer to forget about issuing citations to traffic violators in exchange for money.
