Compostela mulling port/terminal complex

CEBU, Philippines -  The construction of a terminal and port complex in Compostela is one of the major plans of the administration of Mayor Joel Quiño to solve the inconvenience of the riding public who have to pass Liloan and Consolacion towns and Mandaue City in going to Cebu City.

Compostela Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator Camelo Tejero said this was one of the concerns raised during a workshop attended by the mayor, members of the Sangguniang Bayan and the department heads.

According to Tejero, commuters from Compostela and cities and towns in northern Cebu encountered problem when they pass by Liloan and Consolacion during peak hours.

The presence of a mall in Barangay Cansaga in Consolacion town added to the problem of traffic congestion, said Tejero.

Although he also said the officials of Liloan and Consolacion traffic divisions are trying their best to provide a solution to the problem.

He added that the municipal government envisioned a big plan to put up a port behind the old public market that includes a commercial complex and terminal.

The realization of the project will contribute to the development of the town.

According to Tejero, the administration of Mayor Quiño is doing its best to attract more investors and they are now preparing the necessary basic services.   (FREEMAN)
