Student falls prey to 'Salisi gang'
CEBU, Philippines - A 20-year-old student is the latest prey of the so-called "salisi gang" at a fast food restaurant at the North Reclamation Area in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City late afternoon last Tuesday.
Maria Isabel, 20, a dentistry student of Cebu Doctor's University, lost her MSI laptop worth P18,000 that was inside her bag.
Police said Isabel left her bag containing the laptop on a vacant table when she and her companions ordered food. However, her laptop was already missing from the bag when they went back to the table.
Isabel then sought assistance from the manager of the restaurant to view the close circuit television (CCTV) footage of the establishment. There, they saw the suspects taking the laptop from the bag when they were ordering food at the counter.
Last week, a visiting Korean national was also victimized by the gang while he and his host family were eating at another fast food restaurant at a mall also at the North Reclamation Area. The said Korean national lost P300,000 cash and a mobile phone.
Police are now working double- time to identify and arrest these salisi gang members now operating in the city. (FREEMAN)
