Korean national loses P250,000 to four thieves

CEBU, Philippines - A woman and three men, as footages from the CCTV camera would show, stole the bag of a Korean national containing almost P250,000 while entertaining friends Tuesday evening at a restaurant along A. S. Fortuna Street in barangay Banilad in Mandaue City.

Tae Hyun Chun was with a Filipino woman and two Korean friends when the crime was committed.

Tae placed his bag at the back of his chair when he and his friends settled on a table to eat.

Moments later, a woman and three men entered the restaurant and moved a table and chairs towards Tae’s table.

The CCTV shows Tae’s bag was picked up by one of the men sitting at the next table.

The bag contained P99,000,120,000 won, and a BPI check for P25,000, ATM and credit cards.

“Paspas kaayo sila. In a span of two minutes, nakuha na nila ang bag apan after four minutes pa nila nadiskitahan nga wa na diha,” police chief P Sr./Insp. Meche Gabod said.

Gabod said that the whole incident was recorded by the establishment’s CCTV camera.

The police cannot identify the culprits because the resolution of the CCTV recording was fuzzy.

Tae’s bag was recovered at a gasoline station in Consolacion town.

What remained in the bag were ATM and credit cards.

However, Gabod said his station will coordinate with the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office to solve the crime considering that a similar incident which involved a woman and three men took place at a fastfood joint in Lapu-Lapu City Tuesday. (FREEMAN)
