Ex-con goes back to Talisay City jail

CEBU, Philippines - An ex-convict who was visiting a cousin at the Talisay City Jail in barangay Maghaway Thursday afternoon was arrested and sent back to jail for possession of alleged shabu.

Richard Baguio, 34, of sitio Hawod, barangay Bulacao, Talisay City now faces charges.

The police said shabu was found in Baguio’s person when frisked.

He was immediately arrested by JO1 Ronel Rivera and turned over to PO2 Jindo Rodriguez.

Chief Inspector Gil Inopia, the new jail warden, told Banat News (sister publication of The Freeman) yesterday that Baguio is supposed to visit cousin Gerald Baguio, an inmate who is facing charges for possession of illegal drugs.

Inopia said Richard Baguio was once a detainee of the jail.

The alleged shabu was taken to the PNP Crime Laboratory for examination.

Inopia also said the police will wait for the results from the crime laboratory before it will file a case against Richard Baguio.

Richard, in an interview with Banat News, yesterday denied the recent allegation against him.

But he confirmed that in 2005, he was detained at the jail for violation of Section 5 of Republic Act 9165 or selling illegal drugs, but on March 2008 he was released after his case was dismissed by the court.

Richard also said his cousin Gerald late last year was arrested by the police for possession of illegal drugs.
