Employment agency denies claims made by OFW’s mo

CEBU, Philippines - Mariquit Ramos, a representative of Al-Alamia International Manpower Services, yesterday denied the allegation of the mother of an overseas Filipino worker who claimed her daughter was molested and harassed by her employer in Qatar.

Silvana Aplacadores, 55, of barangay Langtad, Naga City, wants her daughter, Isabel Rivera, who has been working as a domestic helper, to be brought home safely.

Aplacadores claimed that last month her daughter was slapped and imprisoned inside her employer’s home when she asked for her pay.

She also said her daughter was denied food and water.

But Ramos, in an interview with The Freeman, said there is no truth to the report saying that Rivera, who is 28-years old, is being treated well by her employer in Quatar.

“Dili na tinuod nga gi-maltreated siya didto. Si Isabel pa man gani ang miingon nga dili siya mouli sa Pilipinas,” Ramos said.

Aplacadores sought help from the Naga City government in connection with the plight of her 20-year-old daughter who was reportedly molested and harassed by her employer in Qatar.

But Ramos said Isabel already works for another employer. “It is not fair for us mao nga nanawag gyud mi sa iyang mama bahin sa maong reklamo niya,” Ramos said.

Rivera left for Qatar in October through Al-Alamia International Manpower Services, which helped her process her papers to get there.  (FREEMAN)
