Naga mayor offers cash reward
CEBU, Philippines - Naga City Mayor Valdemar Chiong has assured constituents that his administration is doing everything to arrest persons responsible for the shooting incidents that took place recently.
For the moment, the police have made no arrests but Chiong is confident the cash reward he has put up will hasten up the resolution of the cases.
Chiong is offering P100,000.
The reward, Chiong said will be charged to his discretionary funds.
Last week, a 21-year-old man was shot in barangay Bairan by unidentified men while a 50-year-old woman was shot dead by three motorcycle-riding men just as she and her son were about to board a bus in barangay Pangdan.
Two days after, three men, including a pork meat businessman, were also shot by two men on board a motorcycle outside a power plant in barangay Colon.
Two of the three victims are still in critical condition in a government hospital in Cebu City.
Chiong has already told Naga City Police Chief Supt. Eduardo Saavedra to submit within 48 hours an “extensive action plan” or anti-crime measures that would deter lawlessness in the city. (FREEMAN)
