MCWD sends P1.2M check to Lapu-Lapu for road repair

Jose P. Sollano - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -  The Metro Cebu Water District has sent a check for P1.2 million to the Lapu-Lapu City government for the repair of the damaged road at sitio Abuno in barangay Pajac.

Mayor Paz Radaza yesterday said the city treasurer’s office received the check from the MCWD last week.

Radaza said the amount will be used to repair the road in Pajac, which was damaged by excavations made by a contractor hired by MCWD for its pipeline expansion.

“Kining kwarta nga among nadawat sa MCWD ipuno lang ni sa pundo sa dakbayan nga maoy maningkamot aron maayo ang nagubang dalan,” Radaza said.

The mayor hopes the repair can start next month.

But before the repair can start, the contractor for the repair must follow rules and regulations set by the Commission on Audit and the Bids and Awards Committee, the mayor said.

Radaza had received complaints from residents and owners of beach resorts and hotel operators in nearby barangays concerning the condition of some roads.

Radaza passed the blame to MCWD and even threatened to file damage suits against the utility. (FREEMAN)
