Destitute senior citizens may get “bundles of joy”
CEBU, Philippines - If the Talisay City council approves Councilor Celiapo A. Cabuenas’ proposal, indigent senior citizens will receive bundles of joy next month.
The proposal suggests an appropriation of P32,700 for the bundles of joy.
“The Christmas Season is at hand signaling the time for extra generosity to everyone, most especially to our elderly brothers and sisters who are less fortunate and greatly in need this time of year,” the portion of the resolution read.
Cabuenas, chairman of the committee on senior citizens affairs and the proposal’s co-author Councilor Bernard Joseph T. and Odilao said the city government is inclined all year round to cater to the needs of the underprivileged residents and have continual programs in helping alleviate poverty in the city.
“How much more for a time such as now and for people such as these and it is paramount that if any form of aid/gifts be given to Talisaynons this Christmas Season, the poorest of the elderly should be at the forefront of the list,” they said. (FREEMAN)
