Talisay police to conduct saturation drive

CEBU, Philippines -  The police in Talisay City are poised to conduct a saturation drive days before the thanksgiving mass for San Pedro Calungsod is celebrated.

The mass will be held on November 30, at the South Road Property.

In the south, the foot procession will start in Talisay City at 1:00 pm on the 30th.

On midnight of November 29, the SRP will be totally closed for the celebration.

Talisay City Police Station chief Superintendent Eddie Recamara said security will be strict days before the mass, which will include a saturation drive and checkpoints.

From barangay Pooc up to the other barangays policemen, village watchmen, and members of the Barangay Peace Action Team (BPAT) will be in the area to maintain peace and order.

The intelligence group will also be fielded.

One hundred police officers are expected from the provincial police office to augment the force in the city.

Recamara said sidewalk vendors will not be allowed to put up business on roadsides in order to prevent traffic logjams and for security reasons.

The city police chief is discouraging people from bringing children or old relatives.

He said the heat of the sun could be detrimental to children as well as to old people, although medics would be on hand.  (FREEMAN)
