CEBU, Philippines - First district Rep. Eduardo Gullas has promised a community in barangay Jaclupan, Talisay City he will extend financial help in the construction of a Mother Perpetual Help Church and chamber.
Gullas, a devout Catholic, yesterday said he has already informed Reverend Fr. Nestor Atillo, who heads the Mother of Perpetual Help Chaplaincy in barangay Jaclupan about the assistance he would extend to help complete the construction of the church which will rise from a 3,094-sq. m. lot in the area.
The building has remained unfinished because of limited funds.
“We are willing to realize Father Atillo’s dream,” Gullas said.
Last year, a groundbreaking ceremony was held by Atillo and others in the area.
The church is named as the Mother of Perpetual Help Church, which will be composed of 51 columns and will have a 700-seating capacity.
Aside from the church, Atillo plans to build a bone chamber within the property to transfer the remains of deceased relatives of residents there.
“I promise to help Father Atillo. I cannot just quantify the amount but we will help,” Gullas said.
Atillo was assigned by Cebu Archbishop Emeritus Ricardo Cardinal Vidal in the area back in 2007. With a church in the area, the faithful from Jaclupan, Camp 4, Manipis, and beyond could save on traveling expenses. (FREEMAN)
