CEBU, Philippines — The Centurion Security Agency, Inc. Basketball Tournament 2025 successfully kicked off last Sunday, March 23, at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.

Centurion President and General Manager Atty. Michelle Mendez-Palmares and Vice President for Finance Ma. Jasmin Mendez-Pages graced the formal opening ceremony together with Cebu City Vice Mayor Dondon Hontiveros, Cebu City Sports Commissioner John Pages, Mandaue City Councilor Malcolm Sanchez, and Cebu 6th District congressional aspirant Atty. Regal Oliva.

Hontiveros, a well-loved sports icon turned public servant, led the ceremonial toss, while Oliva’s Team Regal clashed with the Centurion All-Stars in an exhibition game.

Also present were Malu Mendez, wife of the late Atty. Jack Mendez who founded Centurion in 1965, and lawyers John Majed Ungab and Mary Grace Hermosa Casano from the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP)-Cebu City Chapter who served as judges for the best team uniform and best muse.

Meanwhile, a dozen teams are seeing action in the three-month tilt, six each in the juniors and seniors division.

Mendez-Palmares said the event is part of Centurion’s sports, health and wellness activities in celebration of its 60th anniversary. — (FREEMAN)
