EGS-Solid North completes 5-0 sweep in Mayor s Cup

CEBU, Philippines — The EGS-Solid North pummeled Lymar Ballers, 93-76, to complete a five-game elimination round sweep in the 1st Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia Cup Invitational Basketball Tournament 2025 last Wednesday evening, January 29, at the Cebu City Sports Institute (CCSI) Gym in Barangay Sawang Calero.

Leo Najorda, Goerelle Gonzalez, and Redel Fabro scored 12 points each as EGS-Solid North barged into the crossover semifinals against Fiesta Gas of San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

Fiesta Gas booked the fourth and last semis ticket after knocking out Metro Cars x Stampede, 83-73.

Steve Castro paced Fiesta Gas with 15 points, four rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

Four other Fiesta Gas players cashed in double digits.

Gab Cometa netted 13 points, six assists and two steals while Jonel Bonganciso posted a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds with four assists.

Gileant Delator also had 12 points while Charles Pepito added 10 points, 11 rebounds and two assists.

The other semis matchup that was still being played as of this writing last night features Team Khalifa of Tacloban City against the newly-crowned Sinulog Cup champion RKF Iloilo.
