CEBU, Philippines — Team Khalifa of Tacloban City and RKF Iloilo punched semifinal tickets while EGS-Solid North stretched its unbeaten streak to four games in the 1st Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia Cup Invitational Basketball Tournament on Tuesday evening, January 28, at the Cebu City Sports Institute (CCSI) Gym in Barangay Sawang Calero.
Jancork Cabahug and JZ Dizon bagged 17 points each and SJ Moore added 15 points as Khalifa clobbered Lymar Ballers, 96-68, while Jay-r Sumido, Jeckster Apinan, Miles Cañal and Cedrick Ablaza combined for 47 points to power RKF to an 87-69 trouncing of Fiesta Gas of San Carlos City.
With similar 3-1 win-loss records, Khalifa and RKF are already guaranteed of semis berths in the week-long cage wars that offers P300,000 cash prize to the champion.
Regardless of the outcome of their match as of this writing last night, Khalifa and RKF will clash again in the Final Four at 6 p.m. today (Thursday, January 30), with the winner advancing to the final.
On the other hand, EGS-Solid North is already assured of the No.1 spot with a perfect 4-0 slate after edging Metro Cars x Stampede, 64-61.
EGS will take on either Metro Cars or Fiesta Gas in the other semis duel this 4 p.m.
