CEBU, Philippines — The three-time defending champions Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles aim for history as they try to finish off the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Baby Jaguars in Game 2 of the best-of-three Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Season 24 basketball finals today (Friday, December 6) at the Cebu Coliseum.
On the heels of their 65-45 rout of the Baby Jaguars in the series opener two nights ago, the Magis Eagles are now a win away from becoming the first ever high school team to capture four consecutive crowns in the league’s 24-year history.
The Magis Eagles could achieve that monumental feat if they pull off a repeat performance over the Baby Jaguars in their 6 p.m. duel.
Should they succeed, the Magis Eagles of coach Rommel Rasmo will also grab the record as the winningest juniors squad in the CESAFI, which they currently share with the University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers with seven championship trophies apiece.
The Magis Eagles, however, must brace for war as the Baby Jaguars are expected to launch a daring fightback in a bid to forge a rubber match and keep their hopes of ending their 22-year title drought alive.
