All set for bigger, better second edition of “Run with the Masters”
CEBU, Philippines — The organizers of the “Run
with the Masters 2024” of Cebu Landmasters, Inc. (CLI) hope to break last year’s number of participants when their second edition takes place on December 1 at the Cebu Business Park.
In a press conference at Lyf Hotel in Baseline Center last Friday, November 15, CLI Chief Operating Officer Franco Soberano said they want to make their annual sports undertaking the biggest in Cebu and one of the country’s best in the future.
“The dream is for this Run with the Masters to be one of the biggest if not, one of the best runs in the Philippines,” said Soberano, himself an established marathoner.
Soberano is looking at getting their goal in two to three years’ time.
“I’m a competitive guy, who knows CLI can have the highest attendance. It’s really well-supported by sponsors, contractors, suppliers, partners. Give us two to three years, we want to be the biggest run here in Cebu,” Soberano added.
Soberano said they will work closely with Joel Juarez of Coco Running to incorporate their learnings in different running events in the country and abroad to make this happen.
Meanwhile, the 2,000-mark has already been breached by registered runners spread in different age groups for the “Run with the Masters 2”.
The deadline of registration though has been extended until November 20 to achieve their target of 3,500 to 4,000 runners this time and surpass the 3,000 entries during their maiden edition in 2023.
The run for a good cause features five distances:1K, 3K,6K, 12K, and 21K.
Instead of being an open division, the 21K race will have different age groups to give everyone a fair chance of making it on top.
All finishers will get a souvenir shirt, raffle entry, post-race snacks, and race expo ticket.
Soberano emphasized that the event is not only for health and wellness but also for a good cause through their foundation while showcasing what CLI is all about.
