Maiden CDU Radiographers alumni basketball tourney in UK a huge sucess
CEBU, Philippines — The first ever Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) Radiographers Alumni Basketball Friendly Cup 2024 organized by Cebuano sportsman Anwar Satina in the United Kingdom recently was a huge success.
“It was just a friendly game but so memorable especially that we were able to reconnect and renew ties with our former classmates and colleagues in a fun-filled manner,” said the Liverpool, England-based Satina who, aside from being a hoop enthusiast, is also an accomplished runner and ultra racer with multiple marathons under his belt.
Four teams composed of CDU Radiologic Technology graduates from Batch 1993 to 2015 saw action in the inaugural tournament played at the Holly Lodge Girls College gym in Liverpool.
The Liverpool Gems emerged as champion after edging the Midland Slashers, 30-25.
The London Pirates and the RadTech All-Stars, powered by radtechs from Canada, Ireland and the United States, shared the third place honors.
Ryan Medel bagged the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, while John Lucero was honored as the ‘crowd favorite’.
Aldrin Deiparine, Louie Deiparine, Alaine Perez, Ian Lawas, and Kim Marquez formed part of the Mythical Five.
