Cabibil is October’s best in CEPCA monthly

CEBU, Philippines — Antonio Cabibil topped the October edition of the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (CEPCA) monthly tournament at Robinsons Galleria Cebu recently.

Cabibil outsmarted Rosendo Yamyamin in the sixth and final round and that was all he needed to clinch the title with the highest output of 5.5 points. He pocketed P3,500 for his efforts.

Venancio Loyola Jr., Ian Villareal and Berttjul Lanorias figured in a three-way tie with 5.0 points each but Loyola took the second spot courtesy of a superior tiebreaker.

Villareal and Lanorias settled for third and fourth, respectively, while Peterson Sia landed at fifth place with 4.5 points.

Yamyamin, Carlo Maraat, Roberto Calapan, Manuel Abucay Jr. and Zean Zack Yarag completed the top 10 finishers with 4.0 points apiece.

Meanwhile, the top players in their respective categories were Yamyamin (Cepcans A), Abucay (Cepcans B), Reynaldo Flores (seniors), Kurt Daniel Makinano (kiddies), and Yoana Kaizzy Pacina (ladies).

The event was made possible through the support of CEPCA President Engr. Jerry Maratas in partnership with Engr. Bob Inocian, Romualdo Muralla Jr. and Richard Ouano.
