Baby Jaguars, Baby Webmasters keep share of juniors division lead

CEBU, Philippines —  The University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Baby Jaguars and the University of Cebu (UC) Baby xx Webmasters trounced separate rivals to stay on top of the juniors division standings in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Season 24 basketball tournament on Saturday, October 26, at the Cebu Coliseum.

Jan Vince Oringo came up with a double-double show of 15 points and 10 rebounds to power the Baby Jaguars to a 45-31 beating of the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Baby Wildcats in a low-scoring match.

J Lord Pepito and Clark Benedick Candia combined for 11 points and 22 rebounds to help the Baby Jaguars notch their sixth win in seven games.

Ryko John Batuigas had 15 points, eight rebounds, two assists and five steals but his all-around effort went for naught as the Baby Wildcats fell to 4-3.

Like the Baby Jaguars, the Baby Webmasters also improved to 6-1 after annihilating the University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors, 83-49.

Stephen Pagalan sizzled with 19 points laced with three rebounds and two assists, while Jake Lordwin Yong added 11 points, three rebounds and four steals for the Baby Webmasters, who surged ahead by as much as 36 points, 81-45, in a dominant performance.

Xian Garcia and Neil Ibarita connived for 23 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals but to no avail as the Baby Warriors plummeted to their sixth straight loss.
