High 5 for UC, CEC in CESAFI

CEBU, Philippines — The University of Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters and the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons clobbered their respective rivals for secured their fifth victory in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Season 24 basketball tournament on Saturday, October 12, at the Cebu Coliseum.

Carlo Salgarino netted 14 points on top of four rebounds, one assist, two steals and two blocks as the Baby Webmasters crushed the Cebu Roosevelt Memorial Colleges (CRMC) Baby Mustangs, 66-48, to tighten their grip of the solo lead in the juniors division with a perfect 5-0 record.

Jehu Syx Romanos added 10 points, six rebounds, and three steals for by Baby Webmasters, who kept the Baby Mustangs at bay since sprinting to a hot 20-8 start.

In the other match, Lybron James Lamo spearheaded a balanced attack that vaulted the Dragons to a 79-53 thrashing of the University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors.

Lamo finished with 15 points, four rebounds, one assist and five steals.

Reyvene Arobo and Louie Jay Estorba tossed in 12 points apiece, while Francis Jay Gonzales chipped in with 11 markers for the Dragons, who never looked back after an explosive 30-14 opening assault to stay at second place with a 5-1 win-loss record. — (FREEMAN)
