CEBU, Philippines — Teams from Lamac and Pitogo booked semifinal tickets in the 14th Mayor Teresa “Nene” P. Alegado Cup Fiesta Basketball League in Consolacion, Cebu.
The defending champion Lamac knocked out Cabangahan, 100-86, to set up a best-of-three semis showdown with Pulpogan in the seniors division.
Former collegiate stars Cid Cortes and James Ferraren showed the way for Lamac. Cortes fired 28 points while Ferraren tallied 14 markers.
JJ Baguio also shone brightly for Lamac with 19 points.
Matthew Miñoza netted 22 points, Kenneth Cada scored 19 while Brevin Padayogdog had 11 points but their efforts went down the drain for Cabangahan.
In the SK category, Pitogo upended Tolo-tolo, 107-100, to march into the Final Four.
Chino Larrobis and Jevie Pepito combined for 43 points while James Genos chipped in with 16 points for Pitogo, which will face next Pulpogan in a race-to-2 duel for a championship berth.
Christian Manto sizzled with 27 points while Jacob Bihag and Gabriel Yap connived for 24 points but to no avail for Tolo-tolo. — (FREEMAN)
