CEBU, Philippines — Behind the sharp shotmaking skills of Carlo Bargayo and Tessa Dahl Campos, the Carcar City Division swept the titles in billiards singles event of the 9th Department of Education (DepEd) Region VII Employees Sports Association (DERESA) Regional Inter-Division Tournament.
Bargayo, a teacher of Liburon National High School, outclassed former champion Nino Carl Moneva Beduya of Danao City, 4-1, in their final match to grab the men s singles crown.
Arnel Salimbot of Lapu-Lapu City bagged the bronze medal.
Not to be outdone, Bargayo s teammate Tessa Campos of Carcar Central Elementary School also stamped her class, edging Lapu-Lapu s Andrea Villamor, 4-2, to reign supreme in the women s singles.
Another Lapu-Lapu bet in Ethel Mae Lazaga Baguio anded at third place.
In the men s doubles, Alex Basalo and Edito Lepon of San Remigio, representing Cebu Province, emerged as champion.
Nino Carl Moneva Beduya and Rollan Rom of Danao pocketed the silver medal, while Arnel Salimbot and Anthony Merlo of Lapu-Lapu snatched the bronze.
The competition was under the supervision of tournament manager Omar Ylanan of Bario Luz Elementary School in Cebu City.
Aside from cash prizes and medals, the winners also received certificates during the formal awarding ceremony held at the Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion (CIC)-Mandaue Campus two weeks ago.
