Green

I love the color green, it s the color of my school La Salle, my favorite NBA basketball team, Boston Celtics, and my favorite Cebu team, the University of the Visayas Green Lancers. It s also the color of money, green bucks. The De La Salle Green Archers won this year s UAAP Men s Basketball, ending a seven-year drought. After losing Game 1 to defending champion University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons by 30 points, the Green Archers took games two and three to emerge champions. In the NCAA, the College of St. Benilde wrapped up its season on a high note after defeating Lyceum of the Philippines, the first-ever third place team in the NCAA Men s Basketball tournaments. In volleyball, the College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers won their third straight championship after blasting the Lyceum Lady Pirates to capture the NCAA women s volleyball. The Lady Blazers extended their winning streak to 29. Still in volleyball, the De La Salle Lady Spikers won the UAAP Women s season 85 after dethroning the National University Lady Bulldogs to become 12-time champions.

National Basketball Association

In the NBA, the Boston Celtics lead the league with a 19 win-5 loss record. The acquisition of Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday has made the Celtics the top contenders to win this year s crown. Boston remained unbeaten at home with 13 wins, the second longest streak in franchise history.

UV Lancers are champs

The University of the Visayas routed the University of Cebu Webmasters, 60-41, to win this year s CESAFI Season 23 tournament.  It was their second straight title and 15th overall. In the juniors division, the Baby Lancers were not as lucky as their big brothers when they lost a sudden-death playoff to defending champion Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles, 58-55. UV stunned the Magis Eagles in the first game but Ateneo took Game 2 to arrange the championship. Still, the Lancers made us proud for reaching the finals.  What s your color?
