CEBU, Philippines — The boxers of ARQ Stable and Omega Gym pulled off a clean sweep over their respective rivals in the highly successful “Kumbati 15” fight card that kicked off the historic alliance of two promotional giants last Saturday night at the Tuburan Sports Complex in Tuburan, Cebu.
In the main event, Omega’s Benny “The Bull” Canete (9-1, 6KOs) secured a majority decision win over Jun “The Blaze” Blazo in their 10-rounder bantamweight duel.
Mark “Rasta Mac” Vicelles and Ramil Roda also did not disappoint.
Vicelles (18-1-1, 11KOs) scored a third round stoppage of Ronald Alapormina, while Roda (2-1) edged Kier Torregosa by unanimous verdict over four rounds.
Likewise, the spirited ARQ ring gladiators led by Ian Paul Abne made an impression.
Abne, younger brother of reigning OPBF Silver flyweight champion April Jay Abne, punched his way to a unanimous decision victory over Jeven Villacite to stretch his perfect record to 10-0 spiked with 4KOs.
Berland Robles, Rodel Wenceslao, Ramil Macado Jr., and Riel Gabunilas were also triumphant.
Robles came up with a one-sided unanimous beating of Renoel Pael to stay unscathed in 10 bouts packed with 4KOs, while Wenceslao stopped Ryan Maano in the third round to improve his mark to 20-19-2 laced with 9KOs.
In another remarkable showing, Macado forced veteran journeyman Mike Kinaadman to quit on his stool before the start of the second round to remain undefeated at 8-0 with 4KOs, while Gabunilas, younger brother of WBO Youth light flyweight titleholder John Paul Gabunilas, triumphed for the third consecutive time via unanimous decision against Rustom Sario.
In the other featured match, Japan’s Kakeru Mashimo stopped Marjun Piencenaves in round two to go 6-0 with 5KOs.
