UC president Atty. Go takes pride of athletes’ achievements

CEBU, Philippines — University of Cebu (UC) President Atty. Augusto “Gus” W. Go gave the young athletes the needed moral booster in their training and future endeavors after promising them to continue the school’s athletics program.

UC’s athletes and coaches met with Go the other day after their highly successful campaign in the recently concluded 30th Cebu City Olympics where they retained their secondary crown in dominating fashion.

Go recalled what a difficult moment it has been especially at the height of the pandemic wherein so many people succumbed to the dreaded disease.

Despite all the challenges, Go is proud to tell how their athletic department headed by Jessica Jawad-Honoridez worked relentlessly to keep on discovering new talents and hone them to be champions. “Training very young athletes is something I’m very very proud of. The efforts of the coach and Ms. Jessica Honoridez here,”said Go. “Gwapo kaayo atong athletic program and the people that runs the show and in discovering potentials. This is something we are very proud of.”

In return for the hard work and perseverance of the athletes and their coaches, Go promised to continue their athletic program.

“UC will continue to have its athletic program. Here, we take care not only academic but also athletics,” Go added.

Go, meanwhile, wished the athletes the best of luck as they embark on a new challenge in the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet later this year imn Carcar City.

“I wish them luck. I hope they will be national champions,” Go ended.
