Softbatch eyes historic grandslam as CWBL Season 3 kicks off today

CEBU, Philippines — Back-to-back champion team Softbatch begins its quest for a historic grandslam as the Cebu Women’s Basketball League (CWBL) Season 3 gets underway at 12nn today at the Capitol Parish gym along Escario Street, Cebu City.

Softbatch, which dominated the league’s first two seasons, will be challenged this time by the Titans, GS Prodigy, Donner (Oslob), San Fernando Shines, CYBA-Mandaue, KYPA-Paknaan, D’ Northballers of Carmen, Got Shot, and EVSU of Ormoc City.

CWBL founder and commissioner Arnel Salado said the eight contenders are divided into two brackets.

They will play a single round robin, with the top two teams per bracket advancing to the crossover semifinals.

The winners will clash for the championship in a sudden-death match. — EBV
