CEBU, Philippines — The City Government of Naga will be deploying watchmen to the different schools in the city, following the death of a public school teacher.
Naga City Mayor Valdemar Chiong said 100 watchmen will augment the security personnel of the schools. The city has already set aside a budget for this plan.
Chiong met with the school watchmen and with the Punong Barangays to reiterate the safety and security guidelines in every school.
Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Rosalie Pasaol and the police officers in Naga also attended the meeting.
Among the things agreed on include the documentation of those who will be entering the school premises by listing their names in a logbook.
“Ang ako lang sa watchmen side mag-maintain og logbook. Kung kinsay mosulod sa eskwelahan i-log book gyud, unya kinsay kuyog sa maestro, aron ma-monitor lang gyud,” Chiong said.
Last October 16, a public school teacher of Inuboran Elementary School in Naga City was found dead inside one of the rooms of the school.
Jhun Leo Pañares, 33, was found lifeless inside a room in the school with stab wounds in the different parts of his body.
