RW Freight rules maiden Lycans Basketball League
CEBU, Philippines — The RW Freight completed a two-game sweep of Truck N’ Trail Transport Services Inc., 107-105, in their best-of-three finals series to emerge as the first ever champions of the Lycans Basketball League (LBL) over the weekend at the Cebu Port Authority (CPA) gym.
From the beginning until the dying seconds of the highly physical and nerve-wracking contest, the two protagonists figured in a nip and tuck battle.
Lucky breaks, however, went on RW Freight’s side when it mattered the most to escape with a two-point triumph in a super thrilling match that could have gone either way.
Carlo Camacaylan and Ajie Villaver shared the limelight for RW Freight with 49 combined points. They were ably backed up by Phil Mercader and Jerico Cortes with 18 and 16 markers, respectively.
Dwight Dabon added 10 points underscoring RW Freight’s balanced attack.
John Velasco paced Truck N’ Trail with 34 points. Khen Tibudan scored 17, Jeric Gonzaga and Bensan Aropo connived for 29 points while Matt Grafilo tallied 11 markers in a losing effort. — EBV
