CEBU, Philippines — Southwestern University (SWU)-Phinma Cobras head coach Mike Reyes said he wants nothing but the best for his top gunner Sir Shaquille Imperial.
Reyes made this comment after learning that Imperial is currently weighing his options with regards to the future of his basketball career.
Imperial, the go-to guy of the Cobras that dethroned three-time defending champions University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers in last year’s Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. season, said he remains undecided on where to spend his final year in CESAFI.
Imperial, an all-around hardcourt warrior best known for his prolific outside shooting and ball handling skills, went on to win the Most Valuable Player (MVP) awardf for his key role in the Cobras’ clinching their first CESAFI title in five years.
Reyes said they haven’t come up yet with a final decision but he will leave everything to his All-Star guard.
“Wala pa kami final na pinag-usapan. I told him siya lang mag-decide kung maglaro pa siya or not. I will not force him to stay for another year. Kung may offers siya, i-consider na nya,” he said.
Reyes added that once Imperial arrives at a decision, they will make sure that it is for the best interest of his future career.
“Like what I said, siya mag-decide. I explained to him if he is not yet ready for the next stage, he will have a short career. What we want is magdugay siya either sa PBA or MPBL,” ended Reyes.
