Goal setting for 2020
It’s always easy to declare your resolution for 2020 but doing it is another thing. Like they say, the best investment is one’s health. No matter how much money you earn, it may extend your battery life but in one way or another, the end will always be written by you.
In 2020, set fitness like running, biking, swimming, dancing, trekking or any activity that will force you to prepare for it. Find a support group that has similar goal so that if one slip off its target, your group can motivate you and help you get back on track.
There are tons of activities available in Cebu and the most common is running. Fun runs are scheduled almost every week. The Cebu Marathon featured a half and full marathon distance but all of the runners got their money’s worth. We got more than we asked. It was fun and awesome race. Kudos to the organizers.
The other runs to watch for in 2020 are as follows:
1.Titan Run next Sunday, January 26.
2. 7/11 Run on February 2. This is the run that every runner should finish faster because once you cross the finish line, a load of freebies and gifts await the runners.
3. OYM Run on February 9. It is something to look forward to as this has been moved a couple of times. It has an exciting 8km challenge that you need to finish in 60 minutes in order to get a finisher’s medal. This my sound easy but for begginers, it would be a tough one to beat.
4. SM2SM Run on February 16. A brand new car is at stake in the raffle draw.
5. Wrapping up the month of February is an all-new obstacle challenge called “The Snake Trail Obstacle Challenge”. It is spearheaded by the same group that runs the 4.0 Consolacion Duathlon. The Snake Trail Obstacle Challenge is a 7.5km trail run spiked with 7 to 10 obstacles. With the rising popularity of obstacle race, the fitness industry is joining the bandwagon on this new found fitness craze. The Snake Trail Obstacle Challenge may be a local race but expect the unexpected. It features 3 main categories. The elite, which is the only category that offers cash prizes aside from trophy and finisher’s medal and shirt. It challenges the best of the best. At the frontline is SEA Games silver medalist Sherwin Managil and runner turned fitness advocate Junrey Andales. It also draws other elite racers all over the country.
The age groupoffers the same challenge as the elite but against your age category. From 15-18 all the way to 50 and up.
There’s also the fun category for the beginners who are new to the sport. In this category, anyone can help each other to finish the obstacle. This is the best category for those who want to get fit and stay healthy.
Finally, the most awaited duathlon race in Cebu is back, the 4.0 Consolacion Mountain Bike Duathlon on March 1. The route is almost the same as the previous years. It is backed by the municipality of Consolacion and SM City Consolacion as venue partner. YKK Bike, Cycle Logic and Missing Link continue to be the event’s official bike shop. Coming on board is Fighter Fifty Chinese Wine.
A 3-day expo will also be held also from Feb. 28 to March 1. It includes the race briefing and race kit distribution.
These are just some of the races that can keep you on your toes until March.
Find a support group and set your goals high for 2020 to become a fitter, stronger and healthier you.
