Accenture pulls vengeful win over Sykes

CEBU, Philippines — Jeanne Perez and Junas Misa posted 23 points across their names as the Accenture Sharks pulled off a vengeful 65-63 victory over the defending champions Sykes Pioneers in the Elite Classic of the Tanduay Athletics CSCC E-Leagues for Basketball Season 15 last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Accenture bowed to Sykes in last year’s Elite Classic finals and lost again to the same rivals when they clashed in the first round of elimination, 68-72.

The Sharks, however, made amends this time to exact vengeance at the Pioneers and seize the solo leadership with an 8-1 win-loss mark.

Janjan Auditor exploded for 28 points but got no support from the rest of his teammates as Sykes faltered for the second time in a row after a rousing 8-0 start.

In other Elite Classic games, Rahne Laborte scattered 27 points, five rebounds, four assists and five steals as the Teleperformance Vipers spanked the QBE Generals, 69-65, for their seventh win in 11 starts, while Justine Mier chalked up 24 points, five rebounds and five steals, Janille Bantilan, Roy Quiachon and Nino Belande chipped in 12 markers each as the Fusion BPO Dragons escaped past the Wipro Tigers via an 85-84 cliffhanger to improve their record to 6-4.

The Dreamscape Lions, on the other hand, evened their slate to 5-5 after prevailing by default over the ePerformax Reds, which is still listless in eight games.

In the lone EVO League match, King Olbes and Raymond Basanez each scored 11 as the Dyninno Jets slammed the Shearwater Health Crusaders, 74-63, to raise their mark to 5-4. (FREEMAN)
