CEBU, Philippines — A thousand runners are expected to participate in the Run to Fight Scoliosis slated on June 16 at the Cebu Business Park.
Organized by the Scoliosis Philippines Support Group, Inc.-Cebu Chapter, the race aims to promote awareness and help people with scoliosis, a progressive non-communicable disorder characterized by the lateral curvature of the spine.
The organizers hope to raise funds for the benefit of 13-year-old Trixia Leongas, a native of Banhigan, Dalaguete, who is diagnosed with Thoracolumbar Dextroscoliosis.
“Since June is proclaimed as Scoliosis Awareness Month, I was thinking of a big event since this is already in coordination with the Department of Health,” said Scoliosis PH-Cebu Chapter head Gwendale Ave.
The race features 1K, 3K, 6K and 12K categories. Over a hundred registrants have already signed up.
Interested parties can register at Habagat in SM City Cebu and RUNNR in Ayala Center Cebu. Registration fee is pegged at P300 for 1K, P350 for 3K, P450 for 6K and P600 for 12K inclusive of singlet, post-race refreshments and finisher’s medal.
