2019 Palarong Pambansa Wrestlers, archer deliver golds for Central Visayas

DAVAO CITY, Philippines —  Bayawan wrestlers and archer Chrisha Mae Merto delivered gold medals for Central Visayas in Day 3 of the 2019 Palarong Pambansa yesterday at the University of the Philippines-Mindanao Sports Complex here.

 Christine Chrisler Dantes led the CV wrestling team as she claimed the girls 44 kgs. division gold after beating CARAGA’s Michelle Guerra in the finals, while Jonjie Enyong nabbed the boys 46 kgs. gold with a 6-3 victory over Mhel Narit of CARAGA.

Haniel Muyco also bagged the silver in the 54 kgs. losing to NCR’s Leonard Sueco, while Josh Geram Padua settled for bronze in the 50kgs. division.

Meanwhile, Chrisha Mae Merto continued her dominante performance in archery. Merto was able to get all gold medals at stake in the 50m and 60m events. She now has a total of three golds.

Merto’s teammate Phoebe Nicole Amistoso handed a bronze in the 60-meter action.

Central Visayas badminton team of coach Eddie Estoconeng also had a strong start after their girls team beat CALABARZON, 21-14, 21-13, for the gold.

 On the other hand, the fast-rising gymnast Leanne Maning got a silver in the individual all-around. She also hopes to get a gold in the rhythmic gymnastics final day today.

In the artistic side,  ceevees claimed two bronzes through Jylee Andriana Honor of Lapu-Lapu in the vault and Cebu City’s Audrina Caudor in the balance beam event under the elementary level.

 In swimming, Martin Jose Sayson clinched two silver medals via the 100-meter freestyle with 1:02.76 and in the 50-meter breast stroke with 31.07 second clocking.

Sayson’s teammate, Charllyn Allysa Romanos also got a silver via the 50-meter breast stroke with 35:86 clocking.

Ceevees now occupied the eight spot with seven gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze medals. NCR remained atop of the standing with 38 golds, 32 silvers and 21 bronzes followed by Calabarzon (27-22-31) and Western Visayas (26-14-25).
