Batang Pinoy Visayas Finals: Cebu City stays at second
ILOILO City, Philippines — Team Cebu City grabbed five more golds as they remained at second place in the overall standings after Day 4 of the PSC-Batang Pinoy Visayas Regional Finals here yesterday.
Cebu City now has 32 gold, 36 silver and 33 bronze medals. Host Iloilo padded its lead with 36 golds, 27 silvers and 29 bronzes.
Cebu Province remained at third with 30-17-28 gold-silver-bronze medals, while Negros Occidental (29-16-16) and Dumaguete City (15-18-6) occupied the fourth and fifth place, respectively.
Archer Aldrener Igot Jr. sealed his bid with a gold in the PVC pipe event. The 13-year-old Igot delivered six golds plus a silver for TCC.
Aldrener’s teammate Densil Shane Dinopol ended with a silver after losing the final round to Dumaguete’s Dominique Tagle, 1-6 while Mandaue’s Nina Mae Flores settled with a bronze.
TCC karateka added two more golds through the efforts of Russel Dave Dericho and Nino Nazaren Rayos at SM City Iloilo.
Over at Time Square’s ICC Gaisano, Cebu City pencak silat squad snared two golds, two silvers and two bronze medals. The gold medalists were Rodel Lapiz and Francis Morite.
In swimming, Quintin Zee Sabalandre grabbed a silver in the 200-meter butterfly event with 3:13 clocking at the Iloilo Sports Complex. Juan Alberto Biagan who failed to swim in one event, made up for his mistake by winning the bronze in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:16.79.
Biagan and Sabalandre along with Kirk Galo and Jehaosh Garrido also ended TCC’s bid in the pool with a bronze in the 40x 50-meter freestyle with 2:05.66, clocking. (FREEMAN)
