My Kenyan friends told me that sometimes it’s hard to train in their country. One Kenyan said they have become fast runners as they have to run for their lives when they encounter wild animals such as rhinos and lions.
In Colorado, trail runner Travis Kaufman, 31 was running in the mountains when he encountered an 80-pound lion who hacked him. The lion locked his jaws into his hand and wrists as they tumbled downhill.
Travis was lucky the cat ended on its back that gave him a chance to pin the lion’s hind legs with his feet. After grabbing a stone, he hit the cat on the head and stepped on its neck, suffocating the lion. Travis suffered more than 24 stitches to close wounds on his cheeks and nose.
He was lucky, it was a small mountain lion. What if he encountered an African lion that’s over 300 pounds? Travis would have endedinto bits and pieces. “Runner man unta si Travis pero mas kusog modagan ang leon”.
Hasata La Vista Jo
She never fails to watch Elvisaya and Friends. She even got us to perform during her husband Nonie’s birthday and thanksgiving party a few years back. Last December, I called Jo to invite her to our annual gig at Robinsons Place but I was told she was in a hospital for a checkup. She failed to watch our show. Then just the other week, I was told that Jo Mapeso passed away. Jo was buried at the Springpark in Toledo. “Hasta La Vista Jo”. Keep on watching our gig from heaven”.

Magic Johnson
Jabbar’s partner Earvin “Magic” Johnson was also instrumental in those five Lakers crowns. When Jabbar was injured in the 1980 NBA Finals, he took over the center position and helped the Lakers win the championship.
