CEBU, Philippines — The Don Bosco Technology College clinched its third championship in the 20th Aboitiz Football Cup after a lopsided 4-0 victory over Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu in the under-11 division finals yesterday at the Paref Springdale School field in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.
This is the Bosconians third title in the tournament after winning the under-7 and under-9 titles.
Mark Talingting powered DBTC with a hat-trick as they subdued the SHS-Ateneo booters. Czar Robert Daanoy sealed the win for DBTC with the final goal. Talingting got the Golden Boot award, while Daanoy was hailed as best midfielder.
Renzo Angelo Enriquez, also from DBTC, was named the Most Valuable Player as Nolasco Dave Tan was the best goalkeeper, while SHS-AdC’s Jared Almendras was named best defender.
Host Paref-Springdale, for its part, got the bronze medal with a 3-1 victory over DBTC Team 3.
Bosconians look to add up to their title haul as they also advanced in the finals of the under-13 and under-15.
In the SHS-AdC field in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City, the University of San Jose-Recoletos pummeled Crazy Horse, 5-2, in the men's open division. The Josenians registered their second win, while Crazy Horse suffered its second loss in three games. (FREEMAN)
